Engineering Program Manager (CDMA/EVDO)

Overview:

 

Palm has developed and is currently developing several smartphones that use CDMA/EVDO based radio telephony. As the Engineering Program Manager, you will be responsible for program management activities pertaining to development and delivery of CDMA/EVDO based radio and telephony on existing and future Palm products.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

?  Drive the efforts to plan, develop, and deliver CDMA/EVDO based radio/telephony on several current and future products, as per specifications, on time and within budget

?  Responsible for leading a cross-functional team from engineering, product management, operations, and customer support

?  Early identification and resolution of issues and continued focus on delivery of a good user experience is key

 

Qualifications:

 

?  At least 8 years of experience in engineering program or project management

?  Good knowledge of CDMA/EVDO technology and strong knowledge of the CDMA/EVDO certification process

?  Experience delivering mobile communication and wireless technology-based consumer products to market

?  Experience leading wireless projects involving hardware bring up and software development

?  International vendor management experience

?  Able to drive issues to resolution

?  Strong leadership and communications skills

?  Highly flexible, ability to multi-task

?  Problem-solver-- willing and able to make decisions when needed

?  Team builder--ability to motivate and lead in a matrix environment

?  Work effectively with multi-discipline groups (marketing, sales, certification, and engineering)

?  The proven ability to lead diverse teams to deliver products to market meeting program objectives

?  Exceptional project management skills

?  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

?  Strong organizational skills

?  High level of adaptability and self-motivation

?  Ability to see the ?big picture?; ability to balance people, technical, and business needs and make decisions taking these all into account

?  A significant working knowledge of hardware and software engineering technology and development processes

?  Functional management experience is a plus

 

Education:

 

?  B.S. or higher degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience required

 

Travel:

 

?  Limited amounts of travel may be required
