Job Description:

 

Harris Software Systems is currently seeking a Customer Support Engineer to work primarily throughout North America.  The Customer Support Engineer assists in delivery of high quality solutions to clients in response to specific business requirements,  provides analytical and onsite support necessary to develop & implement solutions for small to medium size projects, provide technical advice to project managers & give technical direction to team members such as subcontractors or client personnel, analyze technical problems & create solutions involving the use of existing techniques or tools. The selected candidate will work from a home based office

 
An encompassing grasp of broadcast products is desired.  Exemplar candidates will have a broadcast engineering background and have worked in broadcast facilities as an engineer or maintenance.
Provide technical phone support to Harris Invenio customers when not installing and upgrading systems.  This is required during normal business hours and for after hour emergencies.
Candidates must demonstrate a proactive customer demeanor, be able to work under pressure and enjoy working in an independent, autonomous atmosphere.

This position requires frequent travel 50% to 75% of the time domestic and international.
Responsible for technically evaluating system designs, recommending computer systems, networks, and database architectures based on operational parameters.
Responsible for maintenance, installations and upgrades at remote customer locations.
Recommends, implements, and follows-through on project plans.
Must generate clearly written, well-organized technical documentation.

 

Qualifications:
Prefer a BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline, and at least 1 year of software systems or broadcast engineering related experience. 

 

Experience:
Additional government or broadcast industry experience or certifications may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
At least 3 years experience maintaining IT systems in a corporate environment is desired.
Advanced knowledge of Windows 2000/XP/2003 operating systems is required.
Strong TCP-IP networking skills required. 
Must have ample experience with network architectures and troubleshooting.
Relation Database Management Systems (RDMS) and experience in Clustering and Microsoft SQL is helpful.
