ENGINEERING & MAINTENANCE MANAGER

 

SUMMARY

This exciting position will provide strong and effective leadership to manage all Maintenance and Engineering activities in a world-class manufacturing plant for a global manufacturer with Winnipeg plant. Particular emphasis on truly transforming the Maintenance & Engineering areas into pro-active elements of the plant and reducing equipment failures.  Manager will encourage root cause analysis, oversee all capital projects, and supervise implementation of new 7i CMMS. Position reports directly to the Plant Manager. Excellent base salary, bonus, full relocation. Strong promotional potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Provide leadership to the plant's engineering and maintenance personnel?both supervisors and floor personnel
? Provide effective maintenance to all plant equipment, including planning, budgeting and implementation with the goal of improving the plant's maintenance approach.
? Strong emphasis on hands-on leadership in mechanical engineering and maintenance, equipment reliability, pro-active trouble-shooting.
? Improvement projects will include the implementation of 7i (successor to MP2), active support of the company's continuous improvement program (TPM), and setting direction for plant control systems.? Strong use of team building, coaching and teaching skills in leading Preventative Maintenance activities to expand continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant
? Maintain active communication with all plant departments and actively oversee contact with outside vendors and contractors to obtain bids for new facilities or equipment.
? Provide pro-active approach to maintenance and engineering, with strong communication with all departments. Strong team development and leadership.


BACKGROUND:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years manufacturing experience, include 4+ years in a supervisory role. Proven record in people development, team development and collaborative decision-making.  Adept in continuous improvement approaches such as  TPM or Six Sigma. Able to perform and lead in a TEAM environment.  Experience in interacting with outside vendors and contractors.
