Entry Level Mechanical Engineer

NSTAR Electric and Gas Corporation is currently hiring engineering graduates for a management training program within NSTAR?s Gas Operations Organization.  This program gives recent engineering graduates the opportunity to learn various aspects of the utility industry.  will be trained in the following areas:

 

Gas Operations:

 

?  Gas Engineering

?  Gas Distribution

?  Gas Supply

?  Gas Service

 

Engineering graduates hired into the program are assigned to one primary organization and will participate in various rotational assignments within NSTAR Departments.  These rotational assignments will promote cross-organizational learning and development.  Each participant will spend six months in various rotations learning about NSTAR?s core business.  This six month period will expose participants to corporate relations, customer care, finance, health and safety, energy supply, electric operations and information technology.  The remaining six months of the program will be comprised of rotations through NSTAR Electric Operations organization, working with managers and other professionals in the group. 

 

In addition to the department rotational assignments, engineers will also be required to complete various development courses based upon a program curriculum.  The curriculum combines classroom learning with targeted on-the-job activities. 

 

The curriculum is divided into two segments:

? Core content is that which any supervisor at NSTAR needs to be successful in their role.

? Specialized content that will differ, according to the functional organization the engineer will be assigned. 

 

This curriculum will consist of field visits, self study, on the job training, mentoring/coaching and classroom training.  The training program will last for a period of one year.  At the end of the rotational training program, successful participants will assume a management position within NSTAR.  Continuous learning and development will be expected of engineers after the program is complete. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Application Requirements:

?  Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering

?  Graduation in December 2005 or Spring 2006

?  GPA of 3.0 or higher

?  Relevant engineering internship/coop experience strongly preferred. 

?  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

?  Understanding of electrical and mechanical concepts and the desire to learn the gas utility industry.
