Besten Equipment, Inc. is a Quanex Corporation Building Products Group company, and a leading manufacturer of equipment for the window industry.  We have an immediate opening for an Equipment Controls Engineer at our Cleveland, Ohio Headquarters.

 

Job Description:

 

The Equipment Control & Automation Engineer will create and maintain programs to control highly automated Besten equipment.  The engineer will also work on legacy programming issues as they arise.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

? Problem-solve down time, inaccuracy or other application glitches. Make recommendations for improvements, offers ideas for application automation and/or better utilization of automated application equipment in the assembly and fabrication of insulating glass, windows and doors.

? Working with PLC software used in Motion Control

? Assist in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of machinery

? As the experience of the incumbent grows, this position will also be responsible for facilitating the development of programs (software) and processes (manuals) whereby customers can help themselves implement best practices for preventative maintenance and spare parts.

 

Qualifications: 

 

Qualified candidates must have a BS in Engineering (Electrical, Controls or Mechanical) with emphasis on electro-mechanical systems and controls.  Minimum of (5) years of experience in motion control, using programmable controllers for pneumatic and electro-mechanical devices. Experienced in Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ladder Logic, Visual Basic, VBA, C++, Allen-Bradley HMI development, RS View, RS Linx, Devicenet, Sensors, VFD, etc.  Carefully planned and structured computer/PLC program development, a must.  Must enjoy hands-on work and active problem solving. Mechanical design experience is a plus.  Experience should include system architecture design, programming, simulation, checkout, and occasional startup assistance.  Some travel required.
