Job Description

The Equipment Mechanical Engineer will apply their broad knowledge within the mechanical engineering discipline, including SolidWorks CAD, statistical methods, DFM/DFA/Design for Test to provide mechanical design and specification for the equipment needs of Philips Oral Health Care (POHC). The ideal candidate will have exposure to development of semi-automatic production equipment and test systems. The Equipment Mechanical Engineer will be a member of a technical team that develops and deploys high-volume automated assembly and test systems. This individual will utilize their skills in mechanical equipment design and analysis, CAD using SolidWorks, and knowledge of work closely with product development and manufacturing members to define requirements, and be responsible for design, development, and implementation of new equipment and processes. The Equipment Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on position requiring a strong working knowledge and disciplined execution of machine design and process development fundamentals.

The Equipment Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:

? Mechanical Design of equipment under general supervision.
? Ensuring that project complies with equipment specification.
? Ensuring that project documentation is accurate, complete, and released to production.
? Determining engineering requirements for designs, and evaluating concepts to determine viability using statistically determined, well understood, world-class methods.
? Performing equipment development activities, including specification, interpretation, implementation of customer requirements, and the documentation of designs.
? Conducting engineering studies and may assign work to technical drafting staff.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have 0-3 years experience in the design and realization of production equipment and/or test equipment. Candidate should have a strong working knowledge and disciplined execution of machine design and process development fundamentals. Must be able to design, test, and evaluate moderately complex mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems using SolidWorks. Has broad analytical skills including FEA.

Education/Experience
? A four-year degree in Mechanical engineering, MS a plus;
? 0-3 years previous experience working with multi-disciplined project teams in a factory automation, test equipment development or machine design environment;
? Previous medical device experience a plus;

Desired Competencies
? Exposure to development of factory automation equipment and test systems;
? Strong communications skills, both oral and written;
? Awareness of best practices in test and measurement systems, and manufacturing equipment

Working knowledge of some or all of the following is desired:
? CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
