Responsibilities include research, development, design and integration of digital and RF circuits for the Range Safety System (RSS), designing and analyzing new and existing RSS hardware and requirements.

 

Technical support for buildup and installation of SRB camera system. Support operations as required for resolution of hardware and software issues. Provide updates of camera related engineering documentation as required by program needs.  Depending on program needs the candidate may work on future upgrades of the SRB camera system.

 

Support development of both internally developed power supplies and those on vendor supplied boxes as required by needs of CLV 1st stage booster project.  Experience with switching power supply design is required.  Development of a battery supplied 28V output power supply is highly likely. 

 

Ensure correct integration of all 1st stage avionics boxes with vehicle power system taking in to account load, startup, voltage management, EMC, ESD, transient response, grounding, and any other items required for successful operation

 

Support sustaining Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster hardware and systems as well as the development of architecture and requirements for CLV 1st stage avionics. Candidate will review systems at box and system level to provide input with regards to EMC performance of all avionics hardware. 

 

Work with NASA customer and external suppliers to create avionics systems for CLV 1st stage booster.  Support integration of flight instrumentation with vehicle data bus.  Ideal candidate will have experience in designing systems utilizing airborne data buses such as MIL-STD 1553.  Entire design process (requirements definition, preliminary design review, critical design review, qualification and design certification review) will be carried out on box level hardware and also overall vehicle system design and integration. 

Both analog and digital approaches may be used depending on needs of overall system.  Will consider candidates with an analog and/or digital hardware design background. 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

? Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering and Engineering Technology (ABET) 4 plus years of position related experience (please see our job site for specific major requirements.

? Position related Master's Degree equates to 2 years experience.
