Failure Analysis Manager
SUMMARY OVERVIEW Manage the FA and reliability testing of a variety of products built by Jabil. To analyze, resolve and manage design, process and field related failures associated with both internal and external customers. Responsibilities include: Designing, running, analyzing and reporting results from tests that determine board level reliability. Identify root cause and modes of failure, analyze and present results along with recommendations in a detailed and clear report.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-FA Lab activities, in conjunction with the departmental roadmap and Jabil business plan.
-FA including sample preparation, optical microscopy SEM/EDS analysis, dye and pry, decapsulation..etc.
-Operate and gather data related HALT, thermal cycling, SIR and various mechanical tests such as pull, shear..etc
-Set up tests to check electrical continuity, gather data using DAQ cards or similar.
-Attendance at customer meetings in support of Jabil business development, as required.
-Consultation services, presentations and tours for Jabil and customer personnel, as required.
-Create and organize appropriate documentation and records.
-Design tests to ensure results obtained are specific to goals set.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee and Team Development:
-Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
-Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
-Coach and mentor staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
-Create and manage succession plans for Advanced Manufacturing Technology functions.
Performance Management:
-Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
-Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell Managers (WCMs), Business Unit Managers (BUMs), peers and team member on AMT team?s contribution to the Workcell team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team members based on feedback.
-Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
-Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
-Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
-Research and advise Jabil of trends in technology, upcoming market demands, supply chain availability, and future goals for FA and reliability of electronic assemblies, including and not limited to PCBS, surface finishes, solders, components such as BGAs, QFPs
-Have active membership in at least two professional industry associations or consortiums; interacting and networking with peers in the field. Subscribe to, and read, trade journals, reports, white papers and magazines in regard to advanced technology.
-Create technology roadmap for your FA team.
-Evaluate trends in your technology area, and forecast the direction your team should take.
-Drive continuous improvement through reporting, analysis and management.
-Assure that your group?s tangible deliverables include useful tools, clearly presented, and professionally packaged for use by internal and external Jabil customers.
-Establish new systems if/where possible.
-Exchange knowledge and documentation with Jabil facilities worldwide to ensure information is shared throughout the Jabil organization.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-Master?s degree from college or university related to metallurgy, materials science, or the equivalent in education and experience. Ph.D. preferred
-Minimum six years experience in laboratory environment related to electronics manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
