Fiber Optical Technician

Position summary

Responsible for fiber handling, fusion splicing, and loss and reflectance tests.

Qualifications:Minimum 2-5 years experience in electronics and electronic testing Must have fiber handling and splicing experience. Must have experience taking measurements (insertion and reflectance loss). Design, testing, repair of digital electronics and digital electrical circuits Experience in Telecom such as Wireless or Fiber Optics Communication is a must Must have excellent PC skills (Excel, MS Word). Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical. Familiarity with Telcordia, Bellcore and FOTP documents is desirable but not required. Experience in testing active Telecommunication components such as laser transmitters, receivers, transceivers, modulators is very desirable BERT testing, eye diagram, characterization of laser diodes and photo-diodes is very desirable Design, test and repair of amplitude and phase modulated electronics, such as cable TV and video equipment is a plus General Fiber Optics experience, such as design or testing of fiber optics components, fiber splicing, optical switching is a plus LabView experience is a plus

 

Fiber Optical Engineer

Position summary

Responsible for measuring IL / RL and handling fiber with a focus on reliability testing.

Qualifications:Minimum B. Sc in Physics or EEE with some stress on Optics, Fiber Optics, Optoelectronics and Digital Signal Processing Must have experience with fiber cable, harnesses, and assessment of passive fiber optic components. Must have experience with DWDM, OCETS, power meters, multi-mode switches and fusion splices. Must have experience taking measurements (insertion and reflectance loss). LabView experience is a must. Matlab / Maple, C++ is a plus. A background in testing products to Telcordia, Bellcore, TIA, IEEE and FOTP specifications is desirable. Understanding of light propagation and impairments in solid state media, principles of emitting and detecting light, light coherency, optical signal transmission, lasers, semiconductors; Particular understanding of fiber optics and fiber optics components such as laser transmitters, receivers, transceivers, modulators; Understanding and hands-on experience in DSP and characterization digital equipment: BERT testing, eye diagram characteristics, modulation techniques; Understanding and hands-on experience in characterization of laser diodes and photo-diodes, modulation components is highly desirable. Computer skills must include MS Word and Excel. Word Perfect and Power Point are helpful but not required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
