Field Engineer 06-1226

Overview

 

Responsible for performing moderately complex field testing on handsets for assigned carrier(s) that include working in the field with R& D engineers and lab testing environment.  Provide field testing of developmental handsets for customer acceptance by conducting drive testing using a Diagnostic Monitor to collect information.  Provide technical support for problem investigation, isolation and corrective action follow-up.  Support sales for customer training and product support.  Operates under general supervision on moderately complex analyses and tasks.

 

Responsibilities

 

1.  Evaluates tests and analyzes hardware/ software for products and accessories for the purpose of predicting failures, assessing compliance and performance.

 

2.  Design and execute moderately complex test cases in accordance with standards and internal/external specifications.

 

3.  Investigates failure rates, and researches and develops solutions for reducing and mitigating the effects of failures.  Performs root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and failure modes and effect analyses (FEMA) to determine the cause and effects of various types of failures.

 

4.  Writes and implements moderately complex test proposals. 

 

5.  Works with other development teams to design and implement any changes.

 

6.  Performance benchmarking to competitor/reference phones, drive testing using Mobile Diagnostic Monitors to verify RF and CAI (protocol) compliance and performance CDG3 or equivalent compliance testing on live customer networks.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Minimum:  2 years direct, related experience in test engineering.

Preferred: 4+ years direct, related experience in test engineering.
