Field Operations Technician – US Based

Roadware designs and manufactures specialized state of the art vehicles known as, ?the ARAN? (or Automatic Road Analyzer).  We collect data utilizing the ARAN, focusing on many different types of deliverable parameters specified by contract and customer.  Included in the list of deliverables are: Faulting, Roughness, Rutting, Texture, Cross-fall, Crack detection, Grade, Differential GPS, Panoramic Digital Images of the ?Right of Way? with Photogrametrical Survey among others.

 

We have an immediate requirement for full-time Field Operations Technicians.

 

Reporting to the Field Operations Manager and as a part of the Data Services Division, you will use your strong analytical and problem solving skills to run, and maintain one of our complex ARANs.

 

Summary of Responsibilities: 

 

The job of the Field Operations Technician is both involved and complex.  The individual must learn how to operate and maintain the vehicle as well as maintain its many subsystems.  Good troubleshooting skills with computer and electronic experience are definite assets.  Travel and long stints in the field are a mandatory part of the job.

 

The primary directive of a Field Operations Technician is to collect data using an integrated computer interface system which basically controls all onboard subsystems remotely.  The operator in the field is also responsible for timely shipments of data to the company as well as a myriad of other administrative responsibilities.

 

The majority of our clients are various State Transportation Departments located throughout the United States of America; as well as various Transportation authorities in Canada. 

 

Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:

 Frequent Travel (100%) with minimal advance noticeA strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems (including, but not limited to Windows XP and 98).Knowledge of MS DOSA background in Electrical/Electronic Technician/Technologist.A positive attitude and enthusiastic team player.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical skills.Strong problem solving skills.Strong working knowledge of computers and various applicationsMust possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseCandidates responding to this posting must currently possess the eligibility to work in the United States

 

 

Certificates or Designation Required:Associate?s Degree or certificate in Electronics, Computer or Civil Engineering, vocational/technical training or equivalent work experienceMust be familiar with a variety of test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, power tools, etc.Pass background check and drug test

 

This position is located in the US but reporting to our head office in Paris Ontario.  Crews are based out of their homes. Mobilization costs to the field are covered from their home to the job.
