Flow International Corporation (Flow), the inventor of abrasive waterjet technology, is the world leader in the development and manufacture of ultra high-pressure (UHP) waterjet systems. Operating in 14 countries and with over 800 employees, nearly 60% of all waterjet systems sold in the world are made by Flow. Our UHP technology is used for pure and abrasive waterjet cutting and surface preparation applications. We currently have an opening in Kent, WA for a Field Service Engineer.
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) provides a highly professional level of technical support to customers in conjunction with the installation and service of Flow International Corporation's waterjet cutting and surface preparation systems and to ensure the successful performance of the company's products and systems in the field. An FSE works independently with little supervision. Responsibilities include the FSE to plan and supervise customers in the execution of field installations of Flow equipment; provide technical support to customers on the installation, operation, troubleshooting, part identification, and repair of Flow equipment at both the customer?s location and via telephone correspondence, fax, etc.; submit completed service records, expense reports and contact reports weekly; develop curriculums and syllabuses and conduct operation, programming, application and maintenance training classes and seminars, both in-house and at customer sites, on Flow equipment ; support in-plant services, including the repair of customer?s parts or equipment returned to Flow under the RMA program; conduct warranty evaluations and failure analysis, directing effective and accurate information to engineering and other relevant departments, of all problem trends; assist in maintaining an up to date document library for Flow products, to include drawings, A-sheets, manuals, specifications, and other relevant technical documentation; participate in the Materials Review Board, Engineering Change Orders and Product Design Team meetings as the technical service representative, providing input that will ensure our competitiveness in the market; provide assistance to customer service by determining parts required by a customer; establish and maintain a positive relationship with our distributors and customers while serving as a liaison between the customer and Flow; travel to customer locations on short notice, often outside normal business hours and for extended periods of time (Overall travel may exceed 70%.); be on call 24/7, except for vacations or pre-approved period, to provide emergency, after hour technical support to customers.
The ideal candidate will have an AA degree in Electronics, Robotics or Mechanical Engineering, or a minimum of two (2 ) years college/technical school training; a minimum of two (2) years recent service-related experience with robotics, motion control systems, CNC machine tools or other relevant capital equipment systems with strong preference for recent training or experience with microprocessor control systems. The position requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, plumbing, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic skills; general diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities; ability for independent judgment to analyze and solve technical problems; be familiar with Windows XP, Word and Excel, and other relevant software; good keyboarding skills; excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to professionally manage and resolve stressful situations; excellent written and verbal communication skills; possess a positive attitude, initiative and dependability; a demonstrated ability for innovative/creative thinking; good organizational skills; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and have the ability to quickly learn the company products and parts.
