Firing Scheduler

Scope of Position :
- Responsible for the weekly schedule of firing and extrusion processes. Will include Blacksburg, Erwin and Diesel facilities firing plans
- Will be active team member on implementation of PDP scheduling system
- Will work with process planning team to define firing scheduling process (spreadsheets and other tools) outside of system for efficient scheduling process
- Back-up to plant scheduler

Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Update firing and extrusion schedules per monthly plan
- Create following week?s firing plans and review with production
- Schedule firing requests to meet project team requirements and production demand

Travel Requirements :
No international. May need to travel to Blacksburg, VA to understand the tunnel kiln, will work with Erwin facility. May need to travel for benchmarking planning processes

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Most of the time, 8-5:00 will be sufficient, however may get calls at home if team leader has questions with an order. May need to work 7-4:00 to be ready for production meeting. This depends on the individual.REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills:
1. Production scheduling skills. Has planned an operation/operations
2. Excellent communication and follow-up skills on actions and activities
3. Process orientation. Needs to think about planning as a process and how to make it consistent.
4. Accurate and detail oriented.
5. Proficient computer skills using databases and spreadsheets.

Desired Skills:
1. People soft software skills. Have used the software and performed promising
2. Proactive approach ? plan for alternate actions to assure delivery of product (as required)
3. Experience with receivership on projects

Education and Experience:
2 year Associate degree required
Planning and/or Manufacturing experience

Soft Skills:
1. Active team member to help resolve issues
2. Communication skills ? written and oral
3. Positive change management. With new products, there will be a lot changes and must keep a positive attitude with all the changes
