Fleet Engineer

POSITIONS SUMMARY

Responsible for engineering and project management activities involved in the application, design, fabrication, installation, operation and repair of compressors and systems by performing the following duties:

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

? Calculate compressor performance as required to select and apply units to fit customer requirements. Seek innovative solutions to apply existing units for optimum utilization of fleet.

? Check design and application of other package components for adequate size, performance, and pressure ratings.

? Provide technical interface with sales, service and customer to ensure that units meet customer?s requirements and design is compliant with ASME, API and other industry codes.

? Review and understand implications of all technical issues related to the application of units, including compressor and engine performance, installation requirements, emissions permits, safety regulations, etc.

? Provide detailed cost estimates for overhauls, modifications, re-packaging, and new build units.

? Provide technical support, calculations, shop work orders, PI&D diagrams, bill of materials as required to direct and coordinate design, overhaul, repair, and fabrication activities.

? Plan, manage and direct overhauls, re-packaging and new build units to conform to fleet standards, customer specifications, safety and cost effectiveness.

? Inspect shop construction and packaging to assure compliance to fleet standards

? Provide technical support to service department to resolve performance issues or to correct system malfunctions in the field.

? Develop specifications and write requisitions for purchasing of major components- compressors, engine, coolers, vessels and control panels.

? Training resource for sales and applications personnel

? Support Fleet Manager in capital expenditure approval process

? Support Maintenance Manager in development of preventative maintenance program for UCI compressor fleet.

? Support Mobile Technology Director in development of the PDA initiative.

 EDUCATION REQUIRED

 Bachelor?s degree (B.S.) in engineering or related technical field from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.  Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.

 EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 Entry level position - 0 - 2 years experience COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

 

TechnicalStrong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work and deal with customers.Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Thorough knowledge of the design, fabrication, application and operation of gas compressor packages Working knowledge of natural gas engines and controls.Able to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and related advance mathematics and deal with formulas and equations.Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables.Ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications, industry codes, and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, instruction and procedures manuals.
