GIS Application Developer

* Assists in the analysis and design of GIS desktop and web applications. Participates in needs assessments or other GIS consulting activities. Conducts on-on-one discussions with clients to gather data.

* Assists with hardware/software recommendations, and develops specifications and/or pricing for hardware and software. May assist with development of hardware and/or software testing algorithms, and perform testing.

* Develops GIS-centric data management applications and components under the direction of senior application development and GIS staff.

* Directs the work of junior and other mid-level staff on specific project tasks

* Supports end users for specific applications. Designs and assists in the preparation of IMS system documentation.

* Generates new solutions from emerging software/GIS technologies

* Presents at internal conferences/meetings for group skills development; presents at external conferences and client meetings for IMS marketing purposes.

* Manages tasks, team and budgets for smaller GIS application projects.

* 3+ years GIS experience and Bachelor's degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science or a related field

* Full understanding of spatial data, coordinate systems and spatial data sources and how they apply to the application design and the decision-making process

* Experience with application development practices, database programming and information management software tools for desktop applications, web applications and enterprise-level systems

* 2+ years experience with Microsoft development tools: Visual Studio (version 6, 2003, and/or 2005), web technologies - ASP/ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, DHTML; Databases: Access, SQL Server and/or Oracle;

* 3+ years experience with GIS application development, using desktop and web-based tools (preferably Autodesk MapGuide and/or ESRI ArcIMS/ArcServer/ArcObjects)
