GIS Marine Software Engineer
Job Title: ATC Marine Software Engineer
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Develop and maintain digital maps of shipping channels, obtaining and converting survey and other data into GIS and/or proprietary map formats, for the marine navigation group.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Convert geo-referenced data from multiple sources and formats into proprietary mapping format. Investigate and implement GIS technologies as appropriate.
Integrate coastal waterway GIS data in raw form into vector data set in CSV format.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
3-5 years ESRI GIS experience, including data conversion and editing, plus proficiency with C/C++ and C#.
Experience with map publication using digital media and/or web-based applications.
Create Arc GIS import/export tools.
Experience in related position preferred, but not required.
Ability to write small programs, macros and/or batch files to automate data processing tasks.
Test data sets.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Translate legacy vector data set to an ESRI shape-file model.
Attention to detail.
Degree in geography, computer science, engineering or related field.
Ability to perform meticulous computer graphics work
