GT Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

ALSTOM Power, Inc., a global leader and provider of power generation engineering, products, and services, is seeking a GT Mechanical Commissioning Engineer for its Field Service department.  The individual will be responsible for supporting both external and internal customers by responding to inquiries for technical support based at our Midlothian, VA location.

 

Basic Functions:

Provides professional technical assistance to customer, contractors and/or ALSTOM Power personnel during the new erection, upgrade, rehabilitation, overhaul, repair and troubleshooting assignments.

 Principle Clients:

Responsible for supporting both external and internal customers by responding to inquiries for technical support.

 

Essential Functions:

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following (may perform other functions that may be assigned):

 
Provides professional technical assistance to customers, contractors and/or ALSTOM Power personnel during the new erection, upgrade, rehabilitation, overhaul, repair and troubleshooting assignments.
Provides assistance in the shutdown, startup and operation of turbines/generators. Primarily troubleshoots problems in turbine mechanical and control systems. Where required, troubleshoot electrical system malfunctions.
Through professional appearance and excellent service, generates new business opportunities for ALSTOM Power products and technology.
Is familiar with start-up and shutdown tests and procedures and with operational problems of ALSTOM Power turbines/generators in general.
Together with ALSTOM Power centers of excellence, maintains improvement of ALSTOM Power turbines.
Continually improves personal technical, commercial, and organizational knowledge and skills.
Performs routine administration duties and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains excellent relations with customers, peers, management, and craft workers.
Frequent travel required.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

MS or BS in mechanical (preferred) or electrical engineering.

 

Skills/Experience:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Several years in the power plant industry would be helpful, but are not required.

Knowledge and use of personal computers.

 

Other Requirements:

Fluency in English is required; German is helpful, but not essential. Must be a team player.

Must be in possession of a valid passport.
