Global Tight Gas Production Engineer
Location: Houston, Texas, United States Overview: Research, development and the deployment of technology for Shell's global exploration and production businesses is managed by Shell?s technology division of Shell International Exploration and Production (SIEP). Two companies, one based in The Netherlands and the other in the United States, work together to provide a wide range of products and services to Shell companies in the sector.
For more than 80 years, Shell's EP business has had central laboratories in each location to ensure that knowledge is gathered and shared among all Shell's Operating Companies. Shell's EP research center, Bellaire Technology Center, is one of the main technology centers for Shell globally, with other EP technology centers in Houston and New Orleans in the U.S. In-house R&D is supported by partnerships with external companies to maintain Shell?s leading edge technology for supply to Shell companies as well as the open market.
Shell International Exploration and Production Inc. is currently seeking Global Tight Gas Production Engineer for its Houston, Texas location.
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for all PT activities from project conception to implementation and post evaluation. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate opportunities with respect to potential value. You will be required to interface with engineering and operations to scope, cost, and AFE exploration, pilot, and development plans.
Additional Accountabilities:
Leading development of exploration, pilot, and development plans with focus on sorbed gas reservoirs, data acquisition, methods, techniques (knowledge of present day best practices used in the San Juan, Raton, and Powder River Basins, and/or Antrim shale preferred)
Managing implementation and execution of exploration, pilot, and development plans
Ability to look at acquisition opportunities from a completions and surveillance engineering perspective
Developing cost models for drilling, completions, gathering systems, and facilities
Providing conceptual well designs for drilling and operations
Selecting, designing, and applying appropriate artificial lift systems
Selecting, designing, draft programs, and apply appropriate well completions techniques to maximize production
Model various completion and lift schemes, validate them through pilot testing, and optimize system for development phase
Processing optimization as every step is an opportunity to learn
Identifying new/emerging technology with high business impact through enhanced production performance from reservoir, wells, and facilities
Sufficient people skills to coordinate this entire effort with both operations as well as the surface and subsurface engineering skill pools
Requirements:
To be considered for this position you must possess a Bachelor?s degree and have approximately 8 or more years of relevant professional. Broad experience with Production Engineering is preferred. In addition, you must possess a mastery in at least two of the following core disciplines: sand control, integrated production modeling, artificial lift, smart well, water injection, subsea completion, subsea processing and well testing. Previous international assignments and subsea completion experience is desired. You must possess working knowledge of FIST, PWRI-FRAC, WELLCAT, WINGLUE, Shellfrac. Comprehensive knowledge of the full range of PE/WE/RE activities from well planning to field development planning and operational experience is desired. Previous experience in multidiscipline field study team, subsea completion and reservoir simulation is a plus.

Strong production skills associated with well design, artificial lift selection and design, completions, fracturing, surveillance, and data acquisition
Understanding of operations, drilling operations, facility engineering, and pipeline engineering
Ability to work with a high level of technical competence, often under time pressure
Ability to work as a team player
Appreciation of the contribution made by other disciplines in a study team and ability to maintain an overview of the customer?s business needs
Ability to motivate and coach less experienced staff
Ability to demonstrate mastery of core disciplines, extensive experience and good technical knowledge of other disciplines with excellent communication skills
Advanced skills in the use of PROSPER, MBAL, GAP
Enthusiastic, energetic, dedicated, flexible and willing to work in a team based environment
Understanding of surveillance techniques and data acquisition schemes
