Operations Business Strategy and Decision Support - Mountain View

This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

The Operations Decision Support group leads strategic initiatives and analyses critical to the management of Google?s worldwide data center operations.

Roles in Operations Decision Support require the technical background, project management skills, analytic horsepower, and business judgment to drive similar initiatives. We are looking for self-starters who can work in a rapidly changing industry, tolerate ambiguity, and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

Example projects include:
Understanding the cost drivers of large-scale computing operations, and identifying strategic implications for the next generation of data centers.
Analyzing tradeoffs of different configuration(s) of machine components (e.g., CPUs, memory, disks), to optimize overall price/performance.
Identifying opportunities to simplify or otherwise optimize our approach for delivering computing power.
Responsibilities:
Work with the company's senior leadership to define, launch, and drive mission-critical strategic initiatives within Operations.
Assume primary responsibility for structuring and executing projects: Developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, and developing final recommendations.
Lead cross-functional, global teams to get work done.
Communicate findings clearly to senior management and the broader organization.
Be accountable for driving recommendations through to implementation.
Requirements:
Bachelors or higher degree in computer science, engineering, or other technical field.
Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills, combined with excellent business judgment.
1 to 5 years experience at a leading consulting firm, or equivalent business problem-solving experience in a line role for a high-growth
technology firm.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
