Ground Vehicle Engineer

Hamilton Sundstrand is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs. Our industrial products serve industries ranging from hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining.

Duties include mechanical design and project leadership including test and development of fire suppression equipment for military Ground Vehicles. Prepares design in accordance with customer and applicable specifications and prepares technical and cost proposals. Interfaces with other departments to coordinate design and engineering documentation release. Supervises fabrication and conducts testing on development and prototype hardware. Prepares data and analysis as may be required for specific programs (stress, FEA, fluid flow, vibration, heat transfer, R&M, etc.). Prepares reports to document the results of design studies, trade studies, failure analyses, and test programs. Evaluates field problems and recommends design changes. Provides technical assistance to manufacturing and trouble shooting production problems whenever required.

BS degree in Engineering as a minimum, MS degree in Engineering preferred

7 Demonstrated skill designing fast acting high pressure valving. Solenoid valve design a plus.
7 Hands on product development experience.
7 Experience selecting and designing elastomeric seats and seals.
7 Experience working with Aerospace materials and processes. Stainless steels and Aluminum alloys. Experience with Castings, forgings, weldments. .
7 Must be capable of identifying heat treatments, protective finishes and other manufacturing processes such as brazing, soldering and welding.
7 Experienced and successful at estimating Non Recurring engineering costs and developing and achieving successful program schedules.
7 Experience in Pressure vessel design and fire suppression equipment is a definite plus.
7 Must possess excellent written and oral presentation skills. Proposal writing is part of the job. Stand up presentations before customers and management is also part of this position.


10 years or more as an Engineering professional, a minimum of 5 years in a related field and preferably in Military or Aerospace Industry.

Must be US citizen capable of obtaining security clearance up to and including Secret level.

Self starting, with strong work ethics desirable.

Like to work with minimum direction and management over sight.

Entrepreneurial nature is desirable, as this individual will take on Engineering responsibility for a 5-10 million-dollar product line.
