I-Based NPI Program Manager

Job Summary: Engineering position in GE Transportation, I-Based Products. This engineering team provides innovative wireless and control solutions to enable business growth in the locomotive market. Products include LocoCAM (Digital Video Recorder), PinPoint (GPS Asset Tracking), ERED (Event Recorder Data Download), and LocoCOMM (Satellite, Wifi, and GPS communication platform). Team is involved in the complete design cycle - customer requirements, concept design, detail design, validation, supplier qualification, and field support. System includes locomotive control systems, multimode wireless communications, PC electronics, embedded software, custom mechanical packaging and IT interfaces. Essential Functions: Responsible for all aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI), including Tollgate Process, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), ISO Compliance, Contractor Management, Global Team Leadership, Scheduling and Tools Selection. Responsible for leading project teams to deliver products that exceed customer requirements within program cost and on schedule. Responsible for developing program schedule, resource requirements, risk identification and mitigation plans. Responsible for tracking program schedule, requirements, risk, mitigation plans, and overall cost. Responsible for integrating engineering team efforts with other organizations associated with product development - customers, marketing, sales, sourcing, manufacturing, IT, suppliers and services. Responsible for integrating efforts with other engineering organizations - Locomotive, Signaling, Rail Solutions, and GE Research Center.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Quals: A. BSEE, BSCS, BSCE, or BSME required B. A minimum of 5 years systems, electrical, or mechanical engineering required C. A minimum of 3 years engineering Leadership or Management experience required D. Experience with delivering new products - NPI processes/tollgate Eligibility Reqs: A. A. Strong understanding of DFSS and DFR (Design for Reliability) Processes, Tools and Methodologies B. Quality training (ISO, CMM), Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification preferred C.
