Job Description:
Responsible for the development of presentation drawings and specs, design review, coordination and correlation of construction drawings, and CA for transportation projects.
+ Prepare project plans and specifications related to ITS elements such as fiber optic cable systems, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
+ Design and implement gigabit Ethernet and ATM based optical networks.
+ Planning and overall coordination of Command Center Operations.
+ Design communications systems between field devices and central operations centers.
+ Design highway and traffic signal systems, environmental sensors and speed detection systems.
+ Develop and evaluate communication alternatives between field equipment and the traffic operations center by utilizing Gigabit Ethernet and ATM optical networks.
+ Design signing, pavement markings and traffic signal installations.
+ Develop traffic impact studies based upon state or local agency standards.
+ Perform traffic incident management studies.


Job Qualifications:
BS in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering plus 5+ years related ITS experience required. Preferably, this experience should include implementation of telecommunication networks for both data and video signal transmission under both wireless and wireline configurations; experience with command center implementations and operations; traffic impact studies; analysis and modeling; traffic signal
design; and, traffic incident management studies. EIT is also preferred. Must have good organizational and communication skills, including strong writing skills. Should also have the ability to work well in a team environment.
