Instrument Engineer - Power Plant

Job Description:
In this role you will provide hands-on Instrumentation Engineering support and expertise for all of the Delaware City Power Plant/Gasifier. This consists of two major elements: the Gasification Unit (Coke Gasifier, Air Separation Unit, and Combustion Turbines) and the original Power Plant (boilers, steam turbogenerators, water plant). Safe, reliable operation of this asset is critical to the Refinery's efficient operation. Provide technical expertise for the specification, design, purchase, installation and commissioning of instrument and electrical systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, electronic and pneumatic instrumentation, control systems, field instrumentation, analyzers, and emergency shutdown systems. Support of capital and expense Authorization for Expenditures (AFE's) and maintenance project assistance is a primary function. This position is a key factor for improving refinery safety, profitability, efficiency and reliability.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical required. Minimum three years of experience in all phases of instrument/electrical systems design and installation required. Provide detailed instrument/electrical engineering design and contractor supervision to ensure that capital AFE's, expense AFE's and maintenance projects are completed accurately and efficiently. Provide accurate instrument, electrical and control systems specifications including DCS/PLC installations and wiring from process design data. Monitor and direct activities of engineering and construction contractors for progress and quality to ensure compliance to company and industry standards. Provide ongoing technical support to operations and maintenance departments on instrumentation, electrical and control system problems. Provide cost estimates and preliminary engineering design work for the development and preparation of Authorization for Expenditures. Follow all safety rules and guidelines as established by the Refinery. Evaluation, design, specification and cost estimation, for preparation and submittal of project Authorization for Expenditures, is a vital function for this position. Design, specification and procurement of instrument/electrical components and systems for projects is a function of this position.
