Instrumentation Designer

Description: Instrumentation Designer This position can be located in either
Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA

Summary of Position Duties:

In this position you will be a Designer for fossil plant Instrumentation & Control (I & C) projects. Responsibilities include: Development, preparation, checking and/or coordination of designs, design drawings, and other documents for power generation plant structures, systems, or components. Must have the ability to design instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, P&IDs, location drawings, and rack drawings. Heavy emphasis will be placed on scoping and designing instrument installations. Development of Loop Sheets is required. Responsible for providing direction to engineer design personnel for development of design documents using Bentley / REBIS software product. Utilization of spreadsheets and databases are a must. 3D modeling of instrumentation is preferred.

Education & Work Experience: 2 or 4 year technical degree or equivalent is highly preferred; additional technical training or experience desired. Minimum of five years experience in industrial and/or process or power industry facilities design is required. AutoCAD proficient, 3D modeling experience desired. Capable of learning new automation design software, self-motivated, quick learner and a good team player.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of I&C to include operational knowledge of boilers and auxiliaries, instrumentation and installation requirements, and CAE methods. Good problem solving and analysis skill, excellent interpersonal/ communication skills. Experience with computers, control systems and PLCs is desired. Good technical writing and organizational skills are needed in this position. Must be able to produce clear, concise drawing notes, and specifications.
