Position DescriptionSupport the development of the Integrated Safety Analysis for the MOX facility. Develop safety evaluations that demonstrate MFFF satisfies the requirements of 10CFR70.61 for hazards associated with chemical or mechanical processes and natural phenomena. Evaluate the adequacy of the associated safety Structures Systems and Components and strategies.Identify hazards, perform analyses and develop models necessary to support the integrated safety analysis.Prepare process hazards analyses (eg, Hazop and what-if) for various MOX chemical or mechanical process systems.Perform radiological and/or chemical consequence analyses and associated dispersion analyses.Perform and support failure modes and effects analyses of MOX safety systems.Work with design groups to ensure documentation supports the safety evaluation.Generate documentation for submittal to the NRC. 

Group Description

 

Performs integrated safety analyses on MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) safety processes and systems, structures and components (SSCs) for the MOX Project. Prepares related reports and documentation supporting the NRC license and review process.MOX integrated safety analysis



All candidates must meet the following minimum  requirements in order to be considered for this Principal Engineer opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

BS in Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 7-10 years of engineering experience.  An advanced engineering degree may be substituted for related work experience (MS 1-2 yrs, or PhD 1-3 yrs).  In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree. Possesses comprehensive knowledge in particular field of specialization and has significant assignments. Has well-developed leadership qualities. Minimum 5 years experience performing safety analyses in support of NRC or DOE facilities. Minimum 5 years experience working under NQA-1 Quality Assurance program. Strong verbal communication skills. Minimum 5 years experience analyzing chemical and/or mechanical processing systems. 

The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.Experience interfacing with the NRC and generating documents for submittal to the NRC.Experience with process hazards analysis Chemist with experience in PUREX processing technologyExperience developing PSARs, FSARs, or Integrated Safety Analysis Experience.10 CFR 70 experience.
