Junior Engineer

 

Responsible for designing new products and improving existing products.  Coordinates with manufacturing to optimize function, manufacturability and low cost.

 

Directs designers, CAD operators and drafters on special design projects and on the development of new products.  Overall design includes responsibility for Bills of Materials (BOM), drawings, manufacturing instructions (pump routing), customer submittals, parts list, etc.

 

Directs designers, CAD operators, drafters and order entry personnel in product structure, item master and specifications to be input into MAPICS.

 

Plans and coordinates various activities in engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and marketing so that projects are successfully completed as planned.  Project manages large custom pump orders as required.  Interface with customer as required.

 

Evaluates and comments on technical portions of customer specifications.  Provides technical assistance to field personnel and customers.

 

Provides technical assistance to manufacturing and quality control as needed.

 

Promotes cost reduction throughout all activities not just within engineering and actively participates in formal cost reduction projects.

 

Verifies Pro Engineer models and drawings are correct and meet CAD standards and he/she is able to incorporate changes directly into the model.  Able to maintain proper workflow through the use of Intralink.

 

Promotes and maintains a flexible, cooperative, team oriented and customer focused attitude within and between departments.

 

Maintains safe work practices and an orderly/safe-working environment.

 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does require coordination and guidance of support designers, CAD operators, drafters and order entry personnel.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in mechanical engineering from four-year college or university as a recent grad up to three (3) years experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

 

Language Skills  

 

Must display ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

 

Mathematical Skills  

 

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts to practical situations.

 

 

Computer Skills  

 

To perform this job successfully, proficient use of MS Excel spreadsheet software and MS Word processing software is required; knowledge of Pro Engineer (CAD) and MAPICS Business Operations software is helpful but not required;
