Lab Manager-Fiber Optic Test Equipment

Due to our continued growth, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lab Manager at our Network Systems Division.

 

The Lab Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the fiber engineering lab as a state of the art test facility capable of providing full test support to the fiber product line.  Duties Include new product testing for engineering verification; new material testing for engineering verification; approval agency testing for the client test programs; production testing; competitive testing; develop and certify test plans/procedures; supervising all lab personnel; work with Fiber Research for the development of new advanced test methods; handling customer support.

 

Duties to be Performed:

? Review incoming test requests and plan all testing.

? Coordinate, schedule and manage all lab testing.

? Communicate status to managers and appropriate engineering/production personnel.

? Interface with other Panduit divisional labs when necessary to manage overflow or conduct lab specific tests.

? Review and remain current on all standardized testing procedures such as EIA/TIA, ISO, etc.

? Maintain Standards Library.

? Establish and maintain the lab as an agency Client Test facility as required by division.

? Obtain and maintain agency approvals if required by the division.

? Design new test methods as required.

? Coordinate and maintain test results database.

? Verify laboratory personnel performance and laboratory procedures to insure accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility.

? Train laboratory personnel in proper laboratory procedures.

? Project management duties as assigned.

? Participates in hiring, selection, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.  Recommends merit increases, promotions and demotions.

? Work with research team to define and develop new test methods and procedures.

? Document new methods and procedures as required.

? Provide technical support to product management, research and engineering teams.

? Maintain Panduit's optical test equipment standards and manage internal optical instrument calibrations.

? Research new and improved Laboratory equipment.  This would include identifying, recommending, purchasing and installing necessary equipment.

 

Skills, Training, Experience Required: 

? BSEE/Physics Required

? 8 +  Years of Engineering & Testing Experience

Under minimal supervision, originates and executes plans, conducts, and manages broad natured tasks that require decision-making.
