Layout Design Engineer

CITY: Kansas City STATE: Missouri COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Design multilayer printed circuit boards including placement of parts and routing of traces; Manage parts library for schematic and printed circuit board; Setup design rules, class rules, high-speed rules; Interface with printed circuit board vendors on problems and engineering quotes; Lead global layout resources and work load; Contribute to process optimization and productivity enhancements.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years work experience utilizing PowerPCB, PowerLogic, PCAD, AutoCAD, CAM350, PCAD 2000, Tango; Experience using through-hole and surface mount technology, fine pitch parts and ball grid array packages; Ability to set up layer stack-up, select material, select surface finish and copper weight; Experience with high speed design principles utilizing transmission lines and differential pairs; Experience creating and maintaining library parts.

Desired:
Technical degree. Experience with designs for high voltage and vital spacing; Design for manufacturing: Knowledge of assembly including pick and place equipment, rework experience, different types of solder paste, solder compositions and stencils; Design for test: Knowledge of different types of testers as in-circuit, functional tester, material defect analyzer, boundary scan; Knowledge of the printed circuit board manufacturing process including material types, lamination, different glass styles, prepregs and solder mask; Experience with design for high noise and harsh environments; Basic electronic design background.
