Lead Controls Engineer

CITY: Bethlehem STATE: Pennsylvania COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
* Build and maintain relationships with key customers, supplier and peers.
* Ensure that sub vendor drawings are accurately designed and meet compliance with customer specifications.
* Responsible for selection and specification of commercially available control products such as PLC or machine monitoring systems.
Design control systems and documents relevant to centrifugal compressor, axial compressor, expander, steam turbine and gas turbine to meet contractual project and customer requirements. Perform functional acceptance tests and interfaces with workshop Testing Dept.
* Provide field support on turbomachinery and perform root cause analysis, failure investigations and implementation of corrective action.
* Present lessons learned and associated design standards updates.
* Interface with Controls COE to leverage cross functional and cross business resources to maximize technical results.
* Support ITO phase during business growth; partner with ITO and customer to determine if existing auxiliary system will work upgrades/rerates of turbomachinery and provide recommendations.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* BS Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree or HS Diploma with 5+ years controls experience in Instrument & control engineering for Oil & Gas/Petrochemical /Power Generation Plants design.
* Minimum of 5 years controls experience in Instrument & Control engineering for Oil & Gas or Petrochemical or Power Generation Plants design;
* Closed Loop Controls (PID).
* PLC Programming (Modicon, Allen-Bradley, Omron, GE-Fanuc, Triconex TMR).
* HMI/Operator Interface Software.
* Data Interface (Data Highway, DF1, Modbus).
* Temperature and Vibration Monitoring Systems.
* Equipment Heath Maintenance (EHM Systems).
* Prior experience supervising more than 2 projects with overlapping schedules.
* Travel: Minimum 20% domestic and international.

* Medium Voltage Equipment - Switchgear.
* Equipment Heath Maintenance (EHM Systems).
* Motor Control Center (MCC) design.
* Data Networking.
* Ability to execute in a global environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Prior experience working in a matrix environment.
* Familiarity with GE Oil&Gas products and markets.
* Green Belt Certified (Internal GE Employees).

General:
* This position is located in Bethlehem, PA.
* GE Infrastructure Oil & Gas Conmec is seeking a Lead Controls Engineer for their Bethlehem, PA location. This position reports to the Manager, Engineering. The Lead Controls Engineer will be responsible for control system design ensuring that design practices are correctly applied and meet customer requirements. The Lead Controls Engineer will also integrate with GEE Controls Center of Excellence (CoE) to ensure best practices and state of the art is being applied to projects. The Controls Engineer will provide input into strategic direction of Controls CoE when requested. Will define control systems that integrate the control unit into the electrical and control systems of the larger plant. Will be expected to work on design practices, control standards, project functional specifications, project designs, and use and participate in developing dedicated design tools and processes as requested.
