Description:
Eaton Corporation's Innovation Center located in Milwaukee, WI has an opening for a Lead Engineer - Power Electronics / Embedded Software and Controls. The successful candidate will work with embedded real-time systems design, programming and testing specifically for power electronic control systems; interface with existing embedded platforms and design future embedded hardware platforms; design, develop and test robust and reliable embedded software from high-level product and prototype specifications.
In addition, this position will develop control algorithms, software requirements and software with simulation of control schemes in MATLAB/Simulink; coordinate with other Innovation Center teams on design and integration of embedded software applications; help development team learn and adapt new embedded software tools and processes (e.g. CMM) to improve the quality of software and help prepare quality documents to capture embedded application design, usage and test results.

The candidate will be involved in developing rapid prototyping systems for power electronics, these system will be fielded for performance verification; managing project responsibilities and teams utilizing local and remote resources [India, China, US]) and external technology resources (e.g. universities)and participate as an integral team member in numerous opportunities in electrical power conversion projects for electric utility, facility substation, industrial, truck, automotive, diagnostics and prognostics, and truck applications.

Qualifications:
This position requires a MS. Electrical Engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
A proven track record in developing embedded control algorithms and software for power electronics, motor control and power systems applications, with a power range from several kW to a MW. General knowledge in physical system modeling, simulations, and algorithm development for electrical power systems. Ability to apply classical, non-linear, and adaptive control techniques to a variety of challenging power applications.
Experience in developing application code on a variety of processor platforms: floating point, fixed point DSPs, microcontroller as well as firmware on CPLD & FGPA platforms is essential. Should have had past experience in real time controls and writing embedded code preferably for power electronic applications using TI DSPs (2812) and Xilinx, Altera CPLD & FPGA's. Proven ability to investigate and develop new technologies for next generation products in emerging markets will be a plus.
