Lead Geotechnical Engineer

MWH, a leader in energy, infrastructure, water and wastewater management is presently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Lead Geotechnical Engineer to be located at our Chicago, Illinois office.

Responsibilities may include:
1. Technical leader, task leader, lead geotechnical engineer or project manager on large size projects.
2. Field and office assignments; preparation and inspection of drilling and exploration programs.
3. Site characterization; geologic mapping; report writing;
numerical modeling and analyses; analysis and design of underground excavations and supports, open excavation slopes, and foundations. 4. Domestic travel may be required.
5. Client contact, management and relationship building may be part of the responsibilities for this position.
6. Position will be located in Chicago office but will likely participate in MSS projects nationwide.

Supervisory Responsibility: Will be expected to successfully mentor staff engineers during business development or project delivery activities.

MS degree in Geotechnical, Mining Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant professional experience, or;
BS degree in same fields with 12+ years relevant professional experience.
Strong fundamental knowledge of principles of engineering geology, rock mechanics, geomorphology, seismology, and hydrogeology;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated large/complex project engineering skills.
Demonstrated client management skills.
Professional license or certification (EIT/PE, CEG, or PG) required.

Must have extensive project experience with field investigations, planning studies, detailed analyses and designs, and construction services related to dams, reservoirs, tunnels, and underground structures for water conveyance and resource projects.
