Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer - 10+ years experience required

Vestas American Wind Technology, the world leader in wind turbine manufacturing is seeking a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to coordinate the work of, and provide guidance to, the mechanical engineers within the Vestas Americas Mechanical Systems group.  The role of lead engineer is 50% engineering and 50% management.  Group responsibilities include Root Cause Analysis and technical support of Sales, Projects, and Service. A minimum of 5 years experience directly related to gearboxes, bearings, and drive train components is required for this position.

 

Essential functions of this position include:

1. Manage day-to-day workload of mechanical systems engineers.

2. Conduct root cause analysis for system failures and prepare formal reports

3. Respond to technical inquiries from project managers, business development managers, service personnel and outside customers.

4. Report group progress against department goals and expedite as required

5. Represent group in sales and project meetings.

6. Review engineering work to ensure consistent quality.

7. Provide technical guidance to engineers within group.

8. Work with Engineering Manager to develop and maintain effective engineering practices.

 

Education, Training & Skills Required:

? Minimum of 10 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer

? Minimum of 5 years experience directly related to gearboxes, bearings, and drive train components.

? Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

? Masters of Science beneficial

? Experience with group and/or project management

? Considerable experience in engineering problem-solving

? Considered by peers to be a top performer
