M&P: Structural Process Engineer

Wichita, Kansas is the headquarters for Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., which was purchased by Onex Corp. from Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2005. In addition to Wichita, the company has operations in Tulsa and McAlester, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom. Spirit AeroSystems supplies commercial airplane assemblies and components, provides aftermarket support, and designs and fabricates tooling.

Job Description:
? Apply structural & mechanical material and process disciplines in order to support the development, evaluation, and reflection of organic, inorganic, ceramic, and metallic materials and of the processes related to their use in production.
? Apply knowledge of material properties in order to develop, select, or recommend materials that meet the environmental and regulatory requirements for chemical, environmental, and mechanical systems.
? Apply knowledge of fabrication assembly processes in order to develop production process standards that are repeatable, cost effective, environmentally friendly, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
? Write engineering standards and develop research projects to resolve problems and improve manufacturing processes (e.g., time, cost, etc.).REQUIREMENTSSkills & Qualifications:
? Ability to use analytical problem solving skills to resolve problems of company supplier, and field materials or processes that affect cost, delivery, or performance.
? Works independently with respect to technical skills, but in a team environment, in support of part standards applications.
? Ability to support the development of standard parts and documentation of applications in the form of specifications for parts and processes associated with installation.
? A working knowledge of Fluid systems standards (3000 psi systems).
? Application of fabrication assembly processes related to mechanical standards is desired.
? Ability to use problem solving skills and document results in the form of new and revised requirements to the applicable fastening systems.

Education:
Prefer a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering Discipline with 13 or more years experience in Standards Engineering work.
