MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop manufacturing processes for new inflator programs

-Participate in product design reviews. Work with Advanced Development/Product Engineering to optimize design for manufacturability.

-Support MSD activities

-Support MTT activities including the following: developing PFMEA baselines, best practices, and error-proofing methods

-Prepare statement of work and source any required equipment for inflator programs

-Design, debug and buyoff required equipment

-Manage equipment supplier to insure all requirements are met including the following: safety, delivery, cost, scrap, uptime, and documentation

-Prove equipment is capable and meets metrics of cycle time, OA and FTQ

-Support plant production launch team with PPAP, pilot builds, run at rate, ramp up and SORP

-Provide plant with complete technical and operational documentation for new process and equipment

-Support change control process

-Provide ongoing support for problem solving and continuous improvement activities at the plant

REQUIREMENTS:

-Knowledge of general manufacturing and assembly processes

-General knowledge of machine automation (controls, sensors, error-proofing, part-fixuring, etc.)

-Demonstrated problem solving skills

-Strong organizational skills

-Proficient oral and written communication skills

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Ability to function in a team based environment

-Ablity to travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Proficient in PLC programming

-Previous airbag/inflator assembly experience

-Knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments

-Experience developing PFMEA's and control plans

-Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and tools

-Knowledge of MSD tools

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
