MTS Device Analysis Engineer

Position Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Performs device analysis support function for all assigned AMD products.

KEY FUNCTIONS:


Performs advanced to complex device analysis, including, but not limited to, parametric, functional, and AC type failures.
Interacts with Design, Product, Process, Field Application Engineers, and Marketing on related issues.
Reads and understands circuit schematics, test datalogs, and circuit layouts.
Serves as technical consultant to other Device Analysts, and provides guidance and training to more junior engineers.
Performs complex defabrication of assigned products. Should have a good understanding and capable of performing advanced analytical techniques, i.e. SEM, Auger, EMMI, and cross-section.
Reviews and/or proposes improved device analysis methods and procedures.
Works on related projects and/or assignments as needed.
PROBLEM SOLVING:


Applies technical knowledge to the analysis of product failures, and proposes possible corrective actions.
Coordinates work of others as a project leader.
DECISION MAKING:


Makes decisions which determine whether the failure is a reliability, handling, or quality issue. Identifies course of action required for reliability, handling, or quality improvement.
Determines failure modes and mechanisms and identifies possible product, process, or test related causes. Provides possible solutions.
Determine project priorities.


Qualifications:

A technology related bachelor's degree plus 7 years of related experience, or a technology related Master's degree plus 5 years of related experience, or a technology related PhD degree plus zero to one year of experience. Requires a demonstrated expertise in all phases of failure analysis, with the ability to organize and lead projects. Must possess effective communication skills.
