MTS Product Development Engineer

Position Description:

Plans, designs, and ensures compatibility/compliance for integrated circuits and/or and support products from product definition through product validation and production transfer.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
Depending on the specific project assignment, will perform applicable functions from the following:

Reviews methods appropriate to develop new products and selects best method of achieving desired performance and function goals.
As a result of interactions with target customers, identifies and plans development of new products based on performance standards and market needs.
Develops specifications for new advanced products based on a solid understanding of complex system-level requirements.
Designs new advanced products from high-level architecture, through logic schematics and circuit schematics.
Interfaces with Process Development/Device Technology to jointly develop structure and design rules for new devices.
Supports Production Engineering to define testing, debug, packaging and manufacturing plans for the product, and Marketing to resolve customer or merchandising problems.
Provides technical support to Systems Development Engineering and Marketing to help in product promotion, special customer application and evaluation of new product ideas.
Presents/participates in technical seminars to customers, sales and field applications engineers.
Provides technical direction in the analysis of design and performance trade-offs when making recommendations to improve production yields or reliability.
Provides technical expertise for less experienced engineers in product development.
Acts as a driving force in keeping development on schedule and tracking all technical requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Relied upon for technical direction of projects.
Responsible for planning improvements to or innovations in product development techniques or methodologies.




Qualifications:

A technology related Bachelor's degree plus 7 years, or equivalent combination of training and experience. A Master's degree plus 5 years of experience is preferred. Requires demonstrated technical expertise in the areas of design and development of advanced integrated circuits, and/or solid understanding of system-level design. An advanced degree may reduce the minimum experience requirement.
