Machine Dynamics Test Engineer - vibration, model analysis, hydraulics, powertrain, controls

Belcan, Inc. is once again looking to expand our Peoria, Illinois Advanced Engineering Technology Division!  AETD is a global provider of engineering services specializing in design engineering, engineering analysis, computer modeling, and advanced manufacturing techniques. 

We have an immediate need for a Machine Dynamics Test Engineer. 

 

Qualifications:
BS or MS in Engineering.  Strong analytical and problem solving skills and an interest in dynamics and the application of vibration theory to machine dynamics related issues.  Excellent communication skills (listening and conveying ideas) and the ability to work in a team environment. Self-starter and motivated to produce quality results.  Strong multitasking and organizational skills.  Knowledge of our customer's machines and systems (hydraulics, powertrain, and controls) and their applications.  Excellent mechanical aptitude.


Job Description:
Belcan is seeking a creative and highly motivated individual to conduct machine dynamics related validation activity.  The candidate will work with various customers to plan and execute developmental tests to evaluate the structural durability of light fabrications and engine installation iron, operator comfort and ride, and general vibration related diagnostic and trouble shooting activity.  Responsibilities will include working with clients and facility product support personnel to plan, setup and execute structural field and lab tests, perform lab based experimental modal tests, analyze test results, and document results and recommendations.  The engineer will gain experience in analyzing test and modal data for the purpose of identifying and predicting structural failure modes utilizing state-of-the-art modal software to perform structural modal surveys.  Travel is required, typically less than 15%.

 

Desired Characteristics:
Background in product development with experience in design, analysis or test.  Experience with Experimental Modal Analysis and associated software tools like LMS Test.Lab, ME'scopeVES, MTS I-deas Pro Test Suite with an emphasis on LMS Test.Lab.  Software experience with DATK, ProE, VisView and standard office suites. Experience with digital signal processing, signal analysis, fatigue analysis, frequency analyzers, TEAC recorders and signal conditioning equipment.
