Machinery Engineer

LYONDELL-CITGO Refining (LCR) is one of the largest refineries in the U.S. designed to process heavy, high sulfur crude oil. The facility covers nearly 700 acres along the Houston Ship Channel and has a rated capacity of approximately 268,000 barrels per day. We have approximately 875 employees, and earned revenues of $5.6 billion in 2004. We manufacture petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, heating oil, jet fuel, olefins feedstocks, aromatics, lubricants and petroleum coke.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for reliability engineering relating to all sizes and types of rotating equipment such as ANSI/API pumps, centrifugal compressors, centrifuges, cooling tower fans and pumps, gear boxes, Responsibilities include: monitoring equipment performance and making recommendations to improve reliability and reduce cost; providing cost estimating and engineering proposals on routine replacement of equipment to correct maintenance problems or for the improvement of processing equipment; technical oversight on equipment installation; review of spare parts; conducting root cause failure analysis; lead on machinery management of changes; analyze top 10 bad actors; repeats and participate in asset team reliability improvement teams; update and maintain assigned maintenance procedures; Identify, track and report on assigned key performance indicators; providing technical support to operations and maintenance organizations; and other departments in the operation and care of equipment in area of expertise; and keeping current on new technology and equipment and evaluating its application in the plant.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment. Proficiency in computer software (database use, excel, word etc.) is required.  Vibration analysis certification a plus.
