Maintenance/Controls Technician

Scope of Position :
* Troubleshoots, repairs, debugs, calibrates, adjusts, tests, programs, and maintains electronic and electrical control systems for the plant.
* Provides technical support to plant maintenance, engineering, and production departments.
* Monitors assigned equipment; reviews and analyzes operating data.
* Prepares statistics and reports on plant equipment.
* Designs and procures equipment for new and existing processes, working with operators, engineers, production & maintenance personnel, and vendors.
* Directs and coordinates assigned projects to completion.
* Assists engineers and project managers in design and coordination of major and complex projects.
* Writes equipment and system documentation.
* Trains operators and maintenance personnel in operation, debug, and maintenance of controlled equipment.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoots, repairs, debugs, calibrates, adjusts, tests, programs and maintains electronic and electrical control systems, including traditional relay controls, PLCs, CNC systems, PC systems, motion control systems, power distribution systems, high voltage systems, instrumentation systems, analog and digital communication.
* Conceives and designs new or modified equipment requiring electrical and electronic design skills. Prepares drawings from concept through working detail drawings for fabrication of both prototype and production equipment.
* Specifies and procures all necessary material and components to complete projects.
* Leads and trains plant electricians in fabrication, assembly, testing, debugging, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of new or modified equipment.
* Writes operation, maintenance, and training documents.
* Supports Hit team with any process emergencies.
Travel Requirements:
Infrequent travel for training or supplier visits
Hours of Work/Work Schedule/flex-time:
Days M-F 7-3, on call some weekends and off-shiftsREQUIREMENTS
Required Skills
1. Associates degree in electrical, electronic, or controls technology, or similar degree; 5 years experience in a related field; or equivalent armed forces training.
2. Experience with a variety of control systems such as traditional relay systems, digital programmable systems, motion control systems, and power distribution.
3. Ability to design, procure, install, debug, and start up new systems.
4. Ability to do basic data analysis, such as creating graphs using spreadsheets.
5. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
Desired Skills:
1. Ability to quote, estimate and lead construction projects.
2. Have knowledge of Process Excellence Process and it?s tools.
3. Have an understanding of Process Control/Process Discipline.
4. Experience working Tabware.
Soft Skills:
1. Ability to work well with people in a research/ manufacturing environments.
2. Ability to speak and write clearly and properly.
3. Self-motivated, ability to work with slight supervision.
4. Availability to work overtime, off shifts, and be on call on a rotating basis.
Education and Experience:
Associates degree in electrical, electronic, or controls technology, or similar degree; 5 years experience in a related field; or equivalent armed forces training.
