Maintenance Engineer
SUMMARY
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design and modification of Talgo equipment and machinery by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
? Establishes processes, standards, and policies and procedures for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance of Talgo manufactured equipment.
? Implements world class continuous improvement processes, such as lean, autonomous maintenance, cellular manufacturing, statistical techniques, pull production, ISO and 5S.
? Researches and implements potential design improvements in Talgo manufactured equipment .and coordinates with our design engineering organization in Spain to implement these improvements.
? Ensures Talgo equipment matches the desired engineering configuration.
? Implements a local design and liaison engineering process.
? Represents Talgo's technical interests at industry associations and regulatory agencies.
? Participates in development of local, regional and national safety standards.
? Collaborates with Maintenance Manager to ensure consistent compliance with all safety regulations.
? Authors articles for industry magazines.
? Apprises supervisor of all recent railroad technological advances and industry standards.
? Informs Maintenance department of all technical information regarding trainsets from Patentes Talgo.
? Provides applicable reports, quotes and technical information to our customers, as required.
? Assists in development of Quality Assurance program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but does require technical project management skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and 3 years experience solving complex mechanical/electrical systems problems in a maintenance / manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply all engineering mathematical operations to such tasks as statistical process control, dynamic analysis, vibration analysis, learning curves, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

WORK SCHEDULE Work is generally performed from 8 am to 5 pm, but will include some nights, weekends and holidays
