Manufacturing Electrical Engineer 694P

Thoratec Corporation is a leading manufacturer of circulatory support products for use by patients with congestive heart failure.  We sell Ventricular Assist Devices, or VAD?s, to virtually every leading heart transplant center in the world, marketing three out of the four VAD?s approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  We are also a leading provider of point-of-care blood diagnostic test systems.

 

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team of Manufacturing Engineers in our Corporate Headquarters located in Pleasanton, California.  This individual will provide manufacturing engineering support of existing circulatory support products and the development/transfer into manufacturing of new products.

 

The individual will troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuits using schematics and/or wiring diagrams.  Analyze circuits to properly design a test method.  Design and develop test fixtures for PCBAs, components and other electrical/electronic subassemblies.  Work with Manufacturing, QA and manufacturing technicians to understand equipment/tools deficiencies to propose changes. Improve/design existing/new equipment/tools based on product and manufacturing/QA/RD&E requirements. Define equipment/tool/fixture requirements and document changes. Perform equipment/tool/fixture implementation and validation. Develop fabrication procedures for manufacturing. Support manufacturing in troubleshooting equipment/tools, create maintenance and manuals and train technicians. Make recommendations for process improvements and drive projects until completion. Work with R&D to transfer new products into manufacturing.

 

This position requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with 0 ? 6 years engineering experience. Some medical device industry experience preferred with ISO/GMP?s. PCBA experience with DFT (Design for Testability), DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and LABVIEW Programming.  Requires strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with all departments. Good organization and time utilization skills. Knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, MS Project, Powerpoint). Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD.
