Manufacturing Engineer - Electroplated Wire Products

Designs or modifies equipment and develops processes for wire electroplating, wire drawing, and wire annealing or related products utilizing principles and technology of chemistry, metallurgy, physics, mathematics, engineering and related physical and natural sciences: Conducts research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes. Designs, plans layout, and oversees workers engaged in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment to carry out electroplating, drawing, and annealing processes. Analyzes operating procedures and equipment and machinery functions to reduce processing time and cost.  Designs and plans measurement and control systems for electroplating, drawing and annealing processes and equipment based on process data collected in plant operations. Determines most effective processes, equipment, and methods exercising judgment to meet or exceed customer specifications and expectations and compromise between process requirements, economic considerations, and operator effectiveness. Directs activities of workers who operate and control such equipment as wire plating machines, drawing machines (and drawing dies), batch, strand, and resistance annealing machines, pumps, filters, laboratory test equipment, x-ray fluorescence thickness testers, tensile test equipment, resistance measuring equipment, waste treatment, ventilation systems, Performs tests and takes measurements throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over variables such as temperature, specific gravity, coating thickness, solution concentrations, machine speed. etc.  May apply principles of chemical, mechanical, or metallurgical engineering to solve manufacturing problems. May apply principles of chemical engineering to solve waste treatment problems.

Chemical or Metallurgical engineering required.

Electrical, electronic, and quality system experience or skills desirable.

Personal computer skills required.
