Manufacturing Engineer - Injection Mold Process

Mahle Filter Systems Murfreesboro, a Tier one supplier of plastic filtration components to the International Automotive Industry and is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the processing needs in our Injection Molding department. The successful candidate must be qualified to perform the following:

 Develops, coordinates and troubleshoots the manufacturing process of plastic injection molding using polypropylene and glass filled nylon resins.Develops the injection molding process for new tooling. This includes all molding machine parameters, peripheral equipment such as chillers and dryers, and take out robot programming.Writes and maintains Check Sheets for injection molding. Revises exiting check sheets as needed.Writes and maintains Inspection reports for molding department equipment.Troubleshoots processing problems manufacturing has for quality issues including dimensional issues, flash, short shots, burn areas, flow marks & bubbles etc.Makes improvements to molding process to reduce cycle times to the lowest time possible without sacrificing part quality.Work with Production to improve mold change over times eliminating all waste during the internal and external change over elements.Reviews new & existing mold tooling issues with Tooling Engineers and Mold Maintenance.Estimates molding cycle times on new product quotations as required.Prepare and maintain documentation on preventative countermeasure activity to support cost reductions targets established by Management.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the candidate is regularly required to listen and talk. The employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, use hands, handle and feel, make visual assessments of components, be exposed to heat and elements in the Injection Mold Department. This is a hands on position with most of the time working on the shop floor.

 

Education & Experience:

BSME or BSEE from a college or university or two years of college in Engineering or technical field is preferred. Four years experience in an injection molding shop with emphasis on process problem solving is the most critical requirement.

 

Must be able to give written and oral reports in the Mahle format. Able to effectively communicate to Producers, Supervisors and Management. Able to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, decimal numbering systems in metric & imperial, ratios and proportions. Must be capable of working with computers, Microsoft Office applications including Visio and Project.
