Manufacturing/ Operations Manager

The Radiation Measurement and Security Instruments business of Thermo Electron is a $130 M business unit that provides a wide array of radiation and explosive detection devises to help keep the world a healthier, safer, and cleaner place. This is a global business that is part of the Environmental Instruments Division of Thermo Electron. This business focuses on developing cutting edge technology that is used by public, private and governments globally. Due to substantial growth, we are looking for a Manufacturing/Operations Manager.

A leading developer and manufacture of scientific instruments specializing in radiation detection is searching for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to create and sustain a team of technicians and assemblers. The Manufacturing Manager will be expected to manage a manufacturing team in an industrial environment and work collaboratively within the organization, local and corporate, with business partners. The local organization comprises engineering, manufacturing, customer service and administrative activities.

The Manufacturing Manager will train and provide direction to the direct labor workforce. The Manufacturing Manager will communicate policy, objectives and special initiatives. The Manufacturing Manager oversees the daily manufacturing activities, ensures a safe environment and is responsible for the efficient use of all resources.

The Manufacturing Manager reports directly to the Business Leader (Program Manager) or Manufacturing Engineer.

Key Attributes:
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
Good mechanical (tactical, hands-on) abilities
Superior, proven leadership skills

Educational and Experiential Requirements:
? Experienced and seasoned manager of DLs and professionals
? Able to read engineering drawings, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic
? An understanding of modern manufacturing principles (lean, demand-pull, single-piece flow, configuration control, etc.)
? Knowledge and capability on MRP/ERP systems
? Basic computer (MS Office) and typing skills

Product delivery (OTD)
Ownership of operational metrics
Continuous process improvement initiatives
Inventory managment
