Materials Engineer - Wabash Indiana

Job Description:

This position requires an individual with thermosetting polymer compounding knowledge or experience in automotive applications. The incumbent will interface with: product engineers to support material related applications to engineered designs; customer plants staff to provide support to the introduction of new materials/formulations; and customers to obtain material approval to support product launches through PPAP. This individual will be required to participate on customer committees that review and set the standards for material related specifications. The individual is expected to initiate innovative solutions to support VA/VE DX material and product projects.

 

The key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:to provide material support to product and plant engineering for the development of weatherstrip productsto develop and implement cost effective solutions to VA/VE initiativesto interface with customers materials engineering to obtain material approvalto plan, lead, and execute material development projectsto identify new material technology for implementation in clients products and processesto develop a relationship with vendors and to manage vendor application technology into our customerto introduce management to developments in applicable weatherstrip and related technologyto communicate results in a timely concise manner

The requirements for this position are:MS degree in Polymer or Materials Engineering with 7-15 years experienceExperience with rubber technology and formulations, specifically for automotive weatherstripsWorking knowledge of thermoplastic and rubber coating technologyExperience in the working with automotive material specifications/requirementsUnderstanding of polymer testing methods and applicationsDemonstrated  capability to plan, develop, and execute projectsAwareness in EH&S impact and materialsExcellent communication skillsAbility to work as a team member or team leader in matrix management environmentRequires minimum direct supervisionDemonstrated innovative capability
