Mechanical Design Engineer #1033

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER for Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas), an expanding Wind Energy company based in Texas. Projects are developing - MUST be willing to travel.  Office location is Austin, Texas. 

 

Purpose:  This position will be responsible for mechanical engineering of wind farm projects primarily, but not limited to the wind turbine including towers. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1)  Preparation of turbine specification for contracts, including all technical requirements.

2)  Tendering and negotiation  of turbine supply contracts

3)  Turbine selection and short listing for projects

4)  Technical review of turbine technology

5)  QA Management of turbine suppliers during contract phase

6)  Logistics management of turbine orders during contract phase

7)  Engineering support to construction team, especially during turbine installation and testing.

8)  Engineering support to Operation and Maintenance team, especially after turbine component failure.

9)  Engineering support to Development Team, especially during the planning application preparation.

10)  Continual turbine market technology awareness

11)  Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements.

12)  Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.

13)  Employees must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.

14)  Responsible to ensure SAFETY requirements must be met.

15)  Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.

16)  Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.

17)   Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the job.

18)   Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1)  Minimum 7-10 yrs of proven utility or industrial experience that includes a proven track record of managing large capital-industrial construction projects. 

2)  Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.  

3)  Working knowledge of CAD software ? Pro/Engineer, Pro/Intralink, AutoCAD

4)  Ability to work effectively with operations and other groups to ensure that project delivery and quality issues are met.

5)  Ability to travel, less than 10%.

6)  Registered Professional Engineer or working toward registration within 3 years

7)  Minimum 2-5 years of Management experience.

8)  Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook.

 

EDUCATION:

BS Engineering degree in construction related areas such as Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
