Mechanical Engineer/Draftsperson

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

 

The Mechanical Engineer/Draftsperson will be responsible for the development of drawings, specifications and other forms of documentation that support the requirements of the products that we market to our customers.

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

 

1. Produces detail mechanical drawings, via CADD or manual drafting, for special or modified light fixtures to suit customer requirements.

 

2. Prepares various forms of documentation for these special applications including submittal, layout, fabrication and installation instructions.(Drawing must provide all necessary details, section views, and dimensions and be complete with bill of materials).

 

3. Assists other Engineering personnel in providing supporting functions for Sales and Customer Service departments - may include cost estimating lighting calculations, reflector analysis, or photometric testing.

 

4. Assists the Engineering Department manager in operating/maintaining the CADD/CAM system, performing other routine tasks, and training others in the use of the system.

 

5. Checking drawings and Bills of Materials for special or modified light fixtures produced by others.

 

6.Performs additional duties as requested.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

 

Mechanical engineering and drafting education with a minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar manufacturing environment, including experience with the design and fabrication of quality sheet metal products in both one-of-a-kind and medium volume quantities, or equivalent related experience.  Working knowledge of trigonometry and analytical geometry.

 

Analytical/problem-solving skills, ability to read, interpret and understand detailed mechanical design prints.

 

Familiarity with manufacturing operations and equipment such as shears, press brakes, punch presses, aluminum extruding, resistance spot welding, heliarc welding, high volume spray phosphatizing and Ransburg electrostatic painting.

 

Ability to work productively and proactively with other departments, provide supporting functions as needed.  Familiarity and aptitude with general office equipment including, but not limited to, copiers, calculators, computers, fax machines, etc.  PC?s running Solid Edge?s CADD/CAM software.
