The Redding Design Center is seeking a talented, fully competent experienced Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for water and wastewater treatment plant design, piping, valves, and pump station design while working in the environment of a multi-discipline team. With limited supervision and general direction, independently applies advanced techniques to complex assignments. Will periodically lead design projects and mentor lower levels of staff. Commonly supervises small numbers of professional and technical staff on small to medium projects. The individual has broader knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Full accountability for planning, directing, organizing and coordinating assignments. Fully understands the customer's needs and how the project relates to other elements of the client's organization and to other projects. Work of others is supervised, progress reviewed and results evaluated. Work results, decisions and approvals impact the overall design of internal systems, programs, and/or critical aspects of the final product. Frequent contacts with internal or external clients and with other departments. Expected to contribute extensively with client relationships, business development and repeat business opportunities. Assignments given with broad objectives. Much of the discretion of project execution is left up to the individual experience and judgment.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: BS in an engineering discipline and a Professional Registration (PE). 10 years of experience. Conveyance experience in large, complex pump stations for finished and raw water systems. Expertise in hydraulics including hydraulic transient evaluations. Large diameter pipeline and related appurtenance design. Experience in selection and development of final specifications for large pumps, valves, motors and miscellaneous equipment. Experience in groundwater conveyance system design. Leadership experience must include: Client focused approach to delivery of work products and in managing client contacts. Ability to supervise and manage project staff. Project Management and/or Task Lead experience in conventional design / bid / build contracts including planning, pre-design, final design and construction support for large, multi-discipline projects. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously. Ability to mentor junior staff. Experience with large, municipal client organizations. Experience with QA/QC processes. Experience in the field of business development and marketing. Experience with water, wastewater treatment design.

Preferred Qualifications: Typical engineering experience range from 12 to 20 years. Active involvement with professional affiliations (AWWA, etc)
