Mechanical Engineer - Project/Design Mgmt

Growing Manufacturing firm located on the west side of Chicago looking to a replace a Mechanical Engineer who has recently been promoted.  You will be part ofour Design Engineering department is actively involved with both sales and production and looks for creative professionals to work with the engineering function to move our product forward with innovation.  Managing ongoing projects is an important part of the function.  Working with Sheet Metal would be very helpful.

 

We are a bus seat manufacturer and a leader in our industry.  Our nearly 600 employees support 50% of the bus building industry with high quality reliable seating. We often customize our product and look to add new products to the mix on a consistent basis.

 

You will work with a team of designers and other engineers.  The specific job responsibilities are:Design and development of new products Design seat structures Develop and implement test and validation plan Assist in evaluation and selection of vendors Assist in build and evaluation of prototypes Work with members of engineering and manufacturing to assure successful launch of productsInvestigate and resolve customer complaints or requests

 

The skills that we would expect you have include:CAD ? both 2D (Autocad preferred) and 3D (SolidEdge preferred) Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent Good interpersonal and communication skills (will have interaction with customers, vendors and other departments) Minimum 5 years experience in product design

 

It would be helpful if you also had:Experience with seat design and FMVSS standards Experience with ERP system (M2M preferred)
