Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion

The Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT) is tasked with developing a common propulsion system for all Future Combat System (FCS) Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) vehicle variants.  As the Propulsion Algorithm Lead within the Propulsion IPT, responsibilities will be to perform as the lead Engineer responsible for all the power and energy, mobility, and cooling systems control methods for the hybrid electric propulsion system.  The candidate will direct the modeling and simulation in support of this effort as well as the software development.  This will entail working with the hardware leads to develop the lower tier control methods and system engineering to ensure system level requirements are being addressed.  The ability to work with cross functional and cross company teams is a must.  The Propulsion Algorithm Lead will report to the Propulsion Architecture Lead.

 

Skills/Experience Required:
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 
Specific experience in development of controls for hybrid electric propulsion system designs for military ground vehicles.
Experience working in a multi-company team environment and working in IPTs within the Integrated Product Development Process (IPDP).
Must be willing to travel periodically to project customer and partner facilities.
Able to act independently based on general direction.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are required.  Must be able to lead UDLP team members and coordinate activities with LSI IPT and program leads.
Experience in briefing large audiences including both the customer and upper management is required. 
Able to prepare proposal cost and schedule estimates and modifications for analysis
